UK wealth management executive becomes CEO of Irish bank
18/05/2017 , News Team

Bank of Ireland has appointed HSBC executive Francesca McDonagh, currently the head of retail banking and wealth management, UK and Europe, as its new chief executive to succeed retiring Richie Boucher.

Ms McDonagh, 42, will become the first female head of the 234-year-old Irish lender. She has Irish grandparents, BofI noted.

Mr Boucher announced in March he would retire before the end of the year after nearly a decade in charge of the bank he guided from the brink of nationalisation.
