Funds round up: Nomura Asset Management, BlackRock and more
09/02/2018 , News Team

Nomura Asset Management’s Global Dynamic Bond Fund has reached a significant performance milestone in achieving a three-year track record. Over its first three years it has returned 11.31 percent, well above the median return of comparable funds. Managed by Richard Hodges, head of Unconstrained Fixed Income, the fund has used its flexible, dynamic investment strategy to participate in the strong performance of fixed income markets whilst containing downside risk through highly active and efficient risk management. The fund now holds positions designed to benefit from pockets of fixed income securities where return opportunities remain, but is also positioned to positively benefit from a rising interest environment in the US in particular. Mr Hodges will present a review of the strategy and outline his thoughts on Wednesday 21 February 2018 at One Angel Lane, London.

Amundi will also provide management, due diligence and monitoring services to Goldman Sachs’ UCITS platform dedicated to external alternative fund managers.  BlackRock has launched the BlackRock Global Funds (BGF) Dynamic High Income Fund, which seeks to broaden income sources for investors, at a time when finding traditional income has been a challenging task. Managed by Michael Fredericks, Justin Christofel and Alex Shingler of BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Income Investing team, the fund seeks to deliver consistent, high income and attractive total return through asset classes complementary to traditional income investments. These asset classes include global REITs, preferred stocks, floating rate loans, mortgage-backed securities and equity covered call options. Employing a flexible approach to asset allocation, the Fund seeks a balance between consistent, high-income and attractive total return, while managing risk relative to a 70 percent equity/30 percent bond risk benchmark.

The Investment Association’s data revealed yesterday (08/02/2018) that investors put a record £63 billion into funds in 2017, taking the total amount invested within the funds industry to a record level of £1.2 trillion. Fixed income was the best-selling asset class with net retail sales of £14.3 billion, whilst over £1 billion was invested in ethical funds for the first time. Tracker funds now make up 13.5 percent of all funds under management and UK equity funds continue to see outflows.
