Stonehage Fleming has appointed David Maxwell as a partner and head of UK risk and compliance.
He is responsible for advising the firm on all aspects of risk and compliance within the UK and reports to Anton Sternberg, chief executive of the Stonehage Fleming Investments, and Ian Crosby, group head of corporate risk and law.
Mr Maxwell was previously director of compliance at Standard Chartered and prior to this was a compliance manager at HSBC Private Bank. He has also previously worked for the UK regulator, for PwC as a regulatory consultant and for the former Association of Private Client Investment Managers and Stockbrokers (APCIMS) – now part of Personal Investment Management & Financial Advice Association (PIMFA).
Stonehage Fleming is majority owned by management and staff. It employs over 540 people in 11 offices in eight geographies around the world. It provides a range of services to over 250 wealthy families. It says it advises on over £32 billion of assets and includes an investment business with more than £9.2 billion under management for families and charities.
